The Level Profit Pledge

10 charities. 1% each. Every month. Transparent forever.

Level gives 10% of monthly profit to 10 highly effective charities. Each charity receives 1% of monthly profit.

How the math works

  • Monthly membership revenue, minus monthly operating costs, is monthly profit.
  • 10% of monthly profit is the pledge pool. Each charity receives 1% of monthly profit.
  • If a month makes no profit, that month’s pool is zero, unless Level chooses to give anyway.
  • Profit here means membership revenue minus the ordinary costs of running Level, before taxes and before any owner or investor distributions. That’s a working definition: a CPA and an attorney will review its exact wording before the first month’s numbers are published.
  • It’s based on profit, not revenue, so Level can stay sustainable and keep the promise.

How the charities are chosen

Level chooses them from the best public charity-effectiveness research it can find, weighing evidence, cost-effectiveness, transparency, measurable impact and room for more funding.

The ten are listed equally, not ranked. This isn’t a list of the ten best charities in the world.

If the evidence changes, a charity may be replaced. Every change is explained here: which charity, when, what replaced it and why.

Charity effectiveness is a field that keeps learning, and Level doesn’t claim certainty. The choices follow the best public evidence available at the time.

Where it stands

The first ten charities haven’t been chosen yet. Once the research is done, they’ll be listed here, each with the reasons and the evidence.

Monthly numbers will be published here once the accounting has been reviewed: members, revenue, costs by category, profit, the pool and each charity’s share. Until then, this page shows no numbers, not even rough ones.

What it isn’t

The pledge comes out of Level’s profit. It isn’t a donation made in your name, and your membership isn’t a charitable gift.
