How Level works
One deal, written down, so you can hold Level to it.
You pay a dollar a month
$1 a month, the same for everyone. No free tier, no free trial and no yearly price. Monthly on purpose: Level has to keep earning the dollar.
Join on iPhone through Apple, or on the web through Stripe. One membership covers both. Cancel anytime, and you keep access until the end of the month you paid for. If you stop paying, everything you posted stays, exactly as you left it.
You’re the customer
Members pay for Level, so Level works for members. No ads, no sponsored posts, no promoted accounts and no paid reach. Level doesn’t sell or rent your data, doesn’t track you across other apps and websites, and has no advertising code inside it.
You see the people you follow, in order
Your timeline is the people you follow, in the order they posted, each post with its time. No algorithm reorders it or adds to it. If a post from someone you don’t follow shows up, it’s because someone you follow reposted it. You can also switch to Mutuals, or to a timeline of people you pick yourself. Each one stays in order.
To find people, search for their handle, tap a hashtag or follow a link a friend shared. There’s no For You feed.
No public counts
Nobody else sees how many followers you have or how many likes a post got. You can see who liked your own posts. Feedback is for you, not a scoreboard.
Nothing on Level is public
Posts, photos, stories, comments and messages are for members only and never appear on the open web. A shared link shows the person, with their name, handle and profile photo, and an invitation to join. Never the post.
Make your account private and only people you approve can follow you. You choose who can comment on what you post.
Safety
A dollar keeps out most bots and spam, but it doesn’t make anyone perfect. You can block, mute or report anyone from their profile or post. Harassment, impersonation, spam and illegal content break the rules, and sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities. With no algorithm pushing posts to strangers, a bad post has a smaller audience to begin with.
Level is for people 13 and older.
Messages
Messages are private to the people in the conversation. They aren’t end-to-end encrypted. Level doesn’t read them, except to review a report or when the law requires it. A message you sent belongs to the person you sent it to, like a letter.
What Level won’t do
- Show ads, or sell your data or your attention.
- Sell reach or boost posts for money.
- Rank your timeline to keep you scrolling.
- Put public scores on people or posts.
- Offer a free tier, a trial or a yearly price.
- Send notifications to pull you back in. A notification means a person did something, like a comment or a follow.
Who makes Level
I’m Fate. I built Level with a lot of help from AI, so a dollar a month is enough to run it, and your social life doesn’t have to be run by an algorithm or an advertiser.
